Jiu Jitsu is a Japanese martial art that was practiced by samurai (Japanese soldiers). The fighting methods of Jiu Jitsu are as old as 1500 years. Today, Jiu Jitsu methods have been modernized to meet the needs of the general population.
It is a complete martial art. It teaches striking techniques (kicks and punches), throws, self-defense techniques as well as ground work. This martial art is accessible to all: men, women and children.
Classes are taught at the Gauthier Sasori Tai Jiu Jitsu club, which is an integral part of the Centre Un pas pour Soi.

Shihan Jocelyn Gauthier has been involved in martial arts for over 35 years. A 5th degree black belt in Jiu Jitsu and a 5th degree black belt in Kali Jitsu, he has practiced various forms of martial arts such as: wrestling, Shorin Ryu style karate, Kenpo, Aikido, Jiu Jitsu, kick-boxing.
His experience began in 1973 when he started to do Soryn Jin Ryu karate with master Hisataka at the college of St-Jerome. Later, he joined the Richard Richard Karate Club in Shito Ryu and became part of the competition team. He began studying at the University of Ottawa where he obtained a bachelor's degree in physical activity in 1981. In 1993, he began learning Jiu Jitsu at Thérien Jiu Jitsu, where he obtained his Shodan and Nidan degree black belts.
In 2000, he opened a martial arts school, Gauthier Lalonde Jiu Jitsu with his teammate at the time Alain Lalonde. At the same time, in 2000 he began a new experience by starting training with Professor Ray Zwicker in Kali Jitsu which encompasses, kali, knife and close counter combat where he obtained his 5th degree in Kali Jitsu in June 2017.
Shihan Joe is founder and owner of Gauthier Sasori Tai Jiu Jitsu Martial Arts School, Tai Fit Cardio teacher. He has been an elementary physical education teacher for over 25 years. He has been an aerobic dance teacher for over 10 years. He is a personal fitness coach. Always looking for a challenge in martial arts, he recently started practicing Wing chun and Jet kune do (Bruce Lee's art). He is a member of the W.E.E.B and Canadian Ninja Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Associations.
Sébastien started doing Jiu Jitsu at the age of 12 at Gauthier & Lalonde Jiu Jitsu. After obtaining his green belt, he had to stop in order to study for a degree in auto mechanics. Upon his return from school at the age of 17, he returned to Jiu Jitsu with his teacher Jocelyn Gauthier and obtained his black belts at the Sodan and Nidan levels at Gauthier Sasori Tai Jiu Jitsu. At the same time, he began learning Kali Jiu Jitsu with Ray Zwicker while continuing his Jiu Jitsu training with Gauthier Sasori Tai. He obtained his Sodan and Nidan titles and is a member of the Canadian Ninja Ji-Jitsu Black Belt Association. Sensei Sébastien is a caring and dedicated teacher at Gauthier Sasori Tai Jiu Jitsu and a member of the club's board of directors. And has acted as a teacher in seminars. He has prepared, so far, two students for their black belt in Jiu Jitsu. Sébastien continues his martial arts training in order to reach his Sandan level (3rd degree)
